What: In keeping with our goal to have healthy, active students, and our plan to encourage student-based fundraisers, the PTA is excited to announce our annual Jog-a-thon! This is a great opportunity for us to raise funds that stay 100% at our school and fund projects that benefit all students.  Our theme is “10 for 10”.  We are asking each student to set a goal to run 10 laps or one mile and raise $100.  That’s just $10 each from ten people ($1 per lap).

When:              Thursday, March 31st, 2011

Kindergarten & 1st Grade:            9:30am – 10:00am

2nd & 3rd Grades:                      10:15am – 10:45am

4th & 5th Grades:                      11:30am – 12:00pm

Who:        All Students with parent’s permission will walk or jog (sponsored or not)!

We want everyone to participate, whether they have a sponsor or not!

How: Each group will have 30 minutes to jog around our track.  Ten laps equal one mile.  We will

have great jogging music to keep them going, and parents are encouraged to attend to cheer

them on or jog along too!

Sponsors: Attached is a sponsor form for you to use for your friends, family and co-workers.  Sponsors can sign up and pay by cash or check today.  They also have the option to pay online by visiting the link to our secure site www.bayparkpta.com/donate or Print Pledge sheet.

Prizes: We will be awarding BIG prizes! The 3 Top Sellers will each have their choice of either a Kinect for Xbox,an Ipod or a Digital Camera! The Top Selling Class wins their choice of a pizza party or an ice cream sundae party! And FINALLY, we will have a GRAND PRIZE RAFFLE! Each child will receive a raffle ticket for every $100 earned. The grand prize raffle winner will get 4 Tickets to Disneyland!

As you know, fundraisers are vital for us to sponsor a variety of programs, services, and materials.  That need is greater now more than ever as funding continues to be cut.  We know and appreciate that the vast majority of support for our fundraisers comes from our parent community and those of close relatives who live nearby.

We have also developed a system enabling each child to reach out via e-mail to friends, relatives and co-workers who wouldn’t normally be able to participate in our fundraisers.

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m trying to raise $100 for my school.  To do it, I’m going to run ten laps around the field on our playground which is one mile.  I might run more, but my goal is to run at least ten.  All I need to do is to find 10 people who would be willing to sponsor me ten dollars each.  Did you know that if every kid in my school can meet their goal of $100 we would raise almost $50,000?

My principal said that our budget this year was cut by 25% and so the PTA moms and dads are trying to raise a bunch of money to help out.  Most of that money comes from our parents who buy all the stuff we sell.  We thought maybe this would be a better

way to do it.  Plus ALL the money, every dollar will go straight to the school for stuff

we need.
